Non-hotel guests can also access the Tank pool by paying an entrance fee or renting a gazebo or lounge chairs. Guests only need to bring their room key that was received at check-in for entrance, but if you plan on spending the day there, it’s best to consider a gazebo day rental – reservation required, whether you’re a hotel guest or not. The Tank pool and the hot tub near the pool stay open year-round, weather permitting. We heard a rumor that the number was going to increase to six species, but we haven’t been able to confirm this. The last we knew, there were five species of sharks, which included two nurse sharks, three tiger sharks, two zebra sharks, four sandbar sharks, and four black-tipped sharks. It’s been a while since we’ve gotten an up-to-date inventory of what types of shark species call the Tank their home. Either way you go, it’s an unforgettable experience. Still, with all of that, the most stand-out feature of the Tank pool is the main reason that it has earned an award-winning status – the 200,000-gallon shark tank that sits in the center. For starters, the pool complex itself is very nicely done, with waterslides and partially submerged lounges so you can relax in a lounge chair and enjoy the cool water at the same time, and the pool area spans three levels. The Shark Tank at Golden Nugget is an amazing pool experience.
